2 Daily Habits to increase your fitness.

2 Daily Habits to help increase your fitness.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” Galatians 6:9

Years ago I wanted to get fit and healthy and make some changes in my life.

I had tried many different ways to incorporate changes into my life, but none of them seemed to work. I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start to make the changes to become a fit and healthy person.

Have you ever felt like this?

I knew that I wanted to be a fit and healthy and I wanted my fitness to be at a certain level. I was interested in making fitness apart of my life, not something that I just did as a means to an end. I wanted to be able walk around the block and not have to stop because I was out of breath. I wanted to feel strong in my body, mind and soul.

I also wanted to make changes in my life that would last! It felt like I’d tried so many ways to get fit, but I could never seem to sustain the changes and would fall back into old habits.

This all changed when I started doing some research on building habits.

Rather than making big changes and giving up when they don’t work, I started to realize that if I started small habits and just focused on those, then I would succeed at making the changes to my life. As I started to build small habits in my life with my exercise, diet and overall wellbeing, I started to see and feel the changes I had been hoping for. I have many daily habits in my life now, that are sustainable and have helped me become fit and healthy.

So, what are the 2 habits that you can start this week to increase your fitness?

1.  Start small.

Its easy to make big goals and have great ambitions when we are wanting to make changes, but to actually make habits last, start with something small and be consistent with it over 2 months before you increase the habit. When it comes to exercise, start small.

How much time do you have weekly for exercise?

Do you have 10 minutes in the morning that you could go for a walk or do some stretches?

Do you have 30 minutes at the end of the day to do a bike ride or go for a swim?

Use the time you have, and start with something small, and do it on a weekly basis, and before you know it, it will become a regular part of your week.

2.  Make it fun.

Exercise and movement should be FUN! I tried lots of different types of exercise before I found one that I really enjoyed.

Heres a list of exercises that you could try:

Surfing

Bike riding

Canoeing

Hiking

Walking

Lifting Weights

Stretching

Whatever age you are its important to find a type of exercise that you love, because when you enjoy something, you will keep doing it!

I love walking, swimming and bike riding, and when I do these things I always come away feeling relaxed, refreshed and reinvigorated.

Try different types of exercise, until you find something that works for you, with the time you have and your fitness level. Start to increase the amount of exercise you do every few months to help you get fitter.

Wherever you are on your fitness journey, I want to encourage you today to start small with the time that you have, and find something you love to do, and this will help you increase your fitness and build the habit of exercise into your life.
