3 Daily Faith Habits.

3 Daily Faith Habits

“Everyone then, who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beath on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matt 7:24-25

Have you ever wanted to grow closer to God and get stronger in your faith, but you felt overwhelmed with the busyness of life?

A few years ago, I really wanted to improve my life and I knew that it all started with my faith and building daily and weekly habits that would help me become stronger in my faith.

I used to try to read the Bible, but felt lost because I didn’t know what to read. I used to pray before I went to sleep at night, but I would get distracted, and I used to start reading books about faith, but never finish them.

I decided that instead of trying to do lots of things at once, that I would focus on building small habits every day that would help me grow in my faith.

“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” Jude 1:20-21

Here are 3 things that you can do to get closer to God and grow in your faith:

1.  Read one verse a week.

Find one verse in the Bible that applies to what you are going through in your life, and write it out on a piece of paper, and stick it to the fridge. Every time you walk past the fridge, read the verse. Meditate on that verse all week and think about what it means to you. At the end of the week, write down what your thoughts about that verse and what God spoke to you during the week.

2.  Pray about one thing.

Have you ever started to pray about the things in your life and got distracted? The best way to build the habit of prayer into your life is to start by praying for 1 thing at a time. Every week, just focus on one prayer need that you have, and simply give it God and ask for his wisdom, peace and guidance. When you build the habit of prayer in your life, it helps you to let go of things, and not worry about them. Building the habit of daily prayer is a great way to grow in your faith as it teaches you to let go of problems and trust God and this builds depth and strength in your faith.

3.  Be grateful for something.

God loves it when we are grateful for what he has done for us! A great way to build your faith is to be thankful to God every day for something you have in your life. Every day think of one thing that grateful for and focus on that. As you build this habit of thinking about 1 thing you are grateful for, it will help you realize how blessed you are and all the wonderful things you have in your life. This small habit has the power to significantly improve your outlook on life! At night before you go to sleep, write down in your journey 1 thing you are grateful for, and as you go to sleep, think about the thing you are most grateful for.

Wherever you find yourself today on your journey in your faith and growing closer to God, I encourage you to start to build small daily habits that are easy and that help you build depth and strength in your faith.
