How to build inner strength.

How to build inner strength.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

A few years ago, I wanted to run a 5km running race.

When I first started training for it, I couldn’t even run around the block! I would run for 1 minute and run out of breath, and at first, I thought I would never be able to run 5kms.

As I kept running short distances, I started developing strength and endurance. I realized I could run further and faster.

Months after I started training, I ran the 5km race, and finished it and I had such a sense of achievement!

It’s the same in our lives. There will be times that we will all face situations that look impossible, and we feel like we can’t face them on our own, that’s where we need to remember we CAN do all things through God’s strength. Imagine yourself running a race, but you already know that you are going to win the race and the finish line is closer than you think.

What do you need strength for in your life now? How do you build strength for it?

Its possible for us to look at our circumstances and see them as an opportunity to build inner strength.

Strength is built in our life when we allow the situations we are facing to produce resilience and determination. We all need things to be able to run our life race with patience and endurance.

How do we build inner strength in any circumstance?

Find a verse in the Bible that applies to your circumstance and meditate on it.

Fill you mind with testimonies of other people overcoming obstacles.

Make up your mind that you are not going to quit.

If you look back over your life to what you have been through, you will see the hand of God leading and guiding you, and most times we realize we have become stronger by going through something.

I started going to the gym a few years ago to get strong and fit. When I first walked into the gym, I have no idea what I was doing. I started weight lifting 5kgs and even that seemed heavy at first. The more I went to the gym, the stronger I got and the more weights I can lift. The more we face storms in our lives, and push through them and allow God to build depth, strength and character, we build inner strength. If we try to get out of a situation or avoid it, we might be missing an opportunity to grow.

Spend some time today to think about the situations in your life that God is using as an opportunity to help you grow in endurance, perseverance, and inner strength.
